Solar observations with ALMA have been offered since Cycle 4 (2016–2017), and all solar data of Cycle 4 and a part of the data of Cycle 5 (2017–2018) have already been released to the public. However, non-experts in the field of radio interferometers have some fundamental difficulties in analyzing the ALMA solar data. The most difficult obstacle to overcome in achieving scientific results from the ALMA solar data is the issue of image synthesis. To overcome this difficulty, we hold the workshop for discussing and resolving the problems of solar image synthesis.

2 - 5 March 2020 & 6 March 2020

Although the official main part of the workshop ends on March 5, we can use the meeting rooms of RoCS until Friday (6 March) for continuing the work begun during the workshop.

How to get RoCS from the city center of Oslo

  • Option 1: 3min walk from subway station “Blindern”. Lines 4+5. Connected to city centre (and city ring) frequently. About 10min from city centre.
  • Option 2: 5min walk from tram station “Universitetet”. Lines 17+18. Connected to city centre (about every 5min).

Hotels

The following list is our choice. There are many other hotels. Prices are typically around 1000-1300 NOK per night (breakfast included) but it might be possible to find something cheaper, too. We recommend booking something near a subway station as that is very convenient. We do not book a room for you. Please book yourself.
